But businesses tend to push spreadsheets beyond their limits. And they quickly become too difficult to manage.

This lets us know that we’ll need to consider such a process in the application. We want to streamline the entire process, making it simple to understand for all departments.

3. Wireframe Key Application Workflows

We often see companies trying to design the web app to match the spreadsheet one-to-one. This isn’t an ideal approach, since spreadsheets aren’t the most intuitive to use.

We must make sure you want to use the app we design for you. The key is to capture the workflow and value the spreadsheet provides, and support it with a more user-friendly interface.

With an application, you have a lot more flexibility to create an intuitive user experience. There are usually better ways to create that value without having a design that looks like your old spreadsheet.

4. See the Future

Your spreadsheet represents your process today. But if a new project or task comes up tomorrow, you add columns or sheets to your workbook without giving it a second thought. 

It’s not so easy when you build an app. You’ll want to at least have an idea about where the business could go. While working with our clients, we try to identify potential upgrades to the current workflow.

5. Commit to the New Application

When the application is ready, the whole company needs to commit to using it. What usually helps with the adaptation process is moving all the most crucial data into the app.  

This helps employees adopt the new tool in their workflow faster. They don’t feel like using Excel to organize their data. The user is provided with a single source of information with intuitive methods for filtering, manipulating, and analyzing the data.
